TripSplit Terms of Use

Effective date: July 14, 2026 Last updated: July 14, 2026

These Terms of Use (the Terms) are a legal agreement between you and the developer identified as the seller of TripSplit on its Apple App Store product page (TripSplit, we, us, or our) governing your use of the TripSplit app (the App). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms function as the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the App. Because the App is licensed through the Apple App Store, the terms in Section 9 (Apple and the App Store) also apply, and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the extent it is not superseded by these Terms.

1. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules in Apple's terms. This license is for your own personal, non-commercial use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the App except as allowed by law;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
  • rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices; or
  • use the App in any unlawful way or in a way that infringes the rights of others.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the expense, participant, and settlement information you enter, and for how you use the amounts the App calculates.

3. Your content and data

The App is offline-first. Your splits, participants, receipt details, and settlements are stored locally on your device, and the App has no backend account or server. You are responsible for your data, for exporting your own backups, and for any content you choose to share or export from the App. Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

4. Free features and TripSplit Plus subscription

Core splitting and settlement features are available at no charge, subject to reasonable limits (for example, a cap on the number of active splits). TripSplit Plus unlocks additional features and lifts those limits.

TripSplit Plus is offered as auto-renewable subscriptions and, where available, a one-time (non-consuming) lifetime purchase:

  • Auto-renewable subscriptions (such as weekly, monthly, or annual) automatically renew for the same period unless canceled.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price shown for your plan.
  • Prices are shown in the App before you purchase and may vary by region. Applicable taxes may apply.
  • A lifetime purchase, where offered, is a one-time payment that unlocks TripSplit Plus features without recurring billing.

Payments are billed and processed by Apple through your Apple ID account. A service provider acting on our behalf validates purchases and manages subscription status, as described in the Privacy Policy. If a subscription price increases, the change takes effect no earlier than your next renewal, and Apple provides notice and, where required by Apple's rules or applicable law, asks for your consent.

5. Managing and canceling your subscription

You can manage or cancel a subscription, or turn off auto-renewal, in the App Store: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

6. Free trials and introductory offers

Where a free trial or introductory offer is available, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Trial and offer eligibility is determined by Apple and may be limited to new subscribers.

7. Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms; we cannot directly grant refunds for App Store purchases. To request a refund, use Apple's process (for example, reportaproblem.apple.com), subject to applicable law.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that receipt recognition, totals, or settlement calculations are error-free, and you are responsible for reviewing amounts before relying on them.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App, if any, in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

9. Apple and the App Store

These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.

  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; any support is provided by us as described in the Privacy Policy and on the App Store product page.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation for the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price you paid for the App, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, or consumer-protection claims.
  • Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Termination

These Terms apply until terminated. Your license ends automatically if you breach them. You may end the license at any time by deleting the App. On termination you must stop using the App; sections on your data, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and general terms survive.

11. Changes to the App and these Terms

We may update, change, or discontinue the App or features at any time. We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App or applicable law; we will change the "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the developer's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

13. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact the TripSplit developer through the contact details listed on the TripSplit App Store product page.
